In conjunction with Merial Ancare and SVS, Vetspecs are pleased to announce that a Surgical Internship is available at the Vetspecs hospital in Christchurch, New Zealand.
This is a prestigious opportunity for an outstanding new graduate, or an excellent clinician who has been successful in practice for 1-4 years, who has superb people skills and is prepared to devote their time and energy into reaching a new level of achievement.
This demanding position will run for one year and will involve intensive immersion in surgical cases; including medical, oncological and imaging aspects of surgical conditions. Utmost commitment is required to case management and will involve after-hours work as well as extensive contact with the After Hours Veterinary Clinic, referring veterinarians and their clients.
This position will require 100% effort and will entail long hours of patient care at a superior level but you will be supported by caring senior veterinarians and nurse technicians who foster a family-feel to the team. It is expected that the Intern will have accepted for publication at least one paper in a peer-reviewed journal during their year with us. Commitment to speaking at local meetings is also encouraged.
We view this program as a springboard for the successful applicant to enter an overseas post-graduate program, with the long-term aim of returning to Christchurch to further develop the skills and services already being offered at Vetspecs.
